A word from our Chairman Scottish Aid to Eastern Europe is a non-profit-making Christian organisation recognised by the Inland Revenue as a Charity in the United Kingdom. (Scottish Charity Number SC032485). The charity’s affairs are managed and administered by four trustees. We had the privilege of operating in Romania in association with Blythswood Care since 1993 and in November 2001, Scottish Aid to Eastern Europe was formed by trust deed and entered on the Scottish Charity Index as a charity in its own right. As you will see from the images throughout our website, we deliver humanitarian aid in the form of food, clothing, bedding, medicines, medical equipment, Christian literature, toys, building materials and a wide range of household goods to poor individuals, families groups, and organisations in virtually every corner of Romania and other venues in between. Our policy is to take aid precisely to the point of need and not deposit items in stores or other intermediate locations where things can be stolen, sold or placed in the hands of unscrupulous individuals or groups. We take slides and digital images of the delivery of each consignment of aid. On our return to Scotland, presentations are given to donors, sponsors and any other interested parties. This forms an interesting and rewarding part of our work throughout the year. Should you wish a presentation for your church fellowship, group, club or company, please e-mail me direct. In order to minimise costs, we always sleep in the truck’s fitted night cab while en route and take our own food with us for the journey. You can be sure, therefore, that for every £, $ or € donated, we do not deflect funds for unnecessary travel costs or other avoidable expenses.
